    • This is the privacy policy of Technet Micro Limited (we, our or us) which outlines our commitment to our customers and users of our website (you) in respect of the collection, management and use of your Personal Information in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020 (Privacy Act), including the Information Privacy Principles (IPPs).
    • This policy does not limit or exclude any of your rights under the Privacy Act.

    • We may collect and hold personal information about you when you:
      • purchase goods and/or services from us and use those goods and/or services; and
      • use our website, including through any communications you have through us.
    • Personal information is information or an opinion, in any form (whether true or not), about an identified individual or an individual who is reasonably identifiable. The personal information we may collect and hold about you includes:

      • device information such as information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and cookies that are installed on your device;
      • phone numbers which the goods and services we provide have been used to contact;
      • the webpages you visit and other information about the resources you access when you use the goods and services we provide; and
      • page and product information such as the web pages you visit when using our website and information about the websites or search terms that referred you to our website.

Sometimes we collect personal information about you from other sources where you have consented to the collection of the information from someone else, or where we are authorised by law to collect the information from someone else, or it is unreasonable or impracticable to collect the information from you personally.

    • to screen our orders for potential risk of fraud; and

We will not use or disclose Personal Information we hold about you that was collected for a particular purpose for any other unrelated purpose, unless:

  • you have consented to the use or disclosure of the information for another purpose; or
  • the use or disclosure is otherwise permitted under the Privacy Act (e.g. you would reasonably expect us to use or disclose the information for another purpose or the use or disclosure of the information is required or authorised by law or a court/tribunal order).
  • Disclosure to Third Parties

To help us carry out our business functions, we may disclose Personal Information about you to:

  • our advisers and consultants;
  • Two Degrees Mobile Limited and/or its related parties, which supplies us with the goods we provide you and provides maintenance and repair services;
  • Chorus New Zealand Limited and/or its related parties, which provides maintenance and repair services;
  • GSS Digital Services Limited and/or its related parties, which provides installation and repair services; and
  • any other person where you have given your consent.

We will take reasonable steps to ensure that these third parties are bound by confidentiality and privacy obligations in relation to your personal and confidential information. We will not sell, gift, rent or trade your Personal Information to anyone.

  • Cookies

We may set and access cookies on your computer.  Cookies are text files that identify your computer to our server, so that when you visit our website, the cookie will identify your computer to our web server. This allows us to improve the speed and reliability of the website and provide you with a better service.  You can disable cookies by changing your Internet browser settings.  However, if you do not enable cookies, our website may not function as intended.

    • Storing Personal Information

We store your Personal Information is stored on our servers in New Zealand. We do not disclose your Personal Information outside New Zealand.

We only retain your Personal Information for as long as is necessary to fulfil the purposes for which the information was collected (including any time that we are required by law to retain such information).

We will take reasonable steps to keep your Personal Information secure, safe from loss, unauthorised activity, or other misuse. However, we cannot prevent, and are not responsible for, interception or "hacking" of information transmitted by us or to us.  Accordingly, any information transmitted is at your own risk.

  • Privacy Breach

If we believe there has been a privacy breach, we will take steps to identify the issues and minimise any harm. If we believe that the breach has caused, or is likely to cause, serious harm then we will comply with our obligations under the Act. As soon as practicable after becoming aware that the breach has occurred, we will notify the Privacy Commissioner and (if required under the Act) and the individuals who may have been affected.

  • What Happens If We No Longer Need Your Personal Information?

If we no longer need your personal information for any purpose, we will take reasonable steps to destroy or permanently de-identify the information, unless we are required by law, or a court/tribunal order, to retain the information.

  1. Access To, and Correction Of, Personal Information
    • Access to Personal Information

You may request access to the Personal Information we hold about you by contacting our Privacy Officer.

We will respond to a request for access within a reasonable time and give you access in the manner you request if it is reasonable and practical to do so, unless an exception in the Privacy Act applies. For example, we may need to refuse to grant you access if providing this access may disclose personal information about another person.

We may need to verify your identity before we give you access to your Personal Information. Depending on the nature of the request, we may charge you a small fee to access that information.

  • Requesting Correction

You may ask us to correct any information about you that you think is inaccurate, incomplete, out of date, or misleading. We will respond to a correction request within a reasonable timeframe.

If we correct your personal information that we have previously disclosed to another entity, and you ask us to tell the other entity about the correction, we will take reasonable steps to tell the other entity about the correction unless it is impractical or unlawful to do so.

  • Refusal to Allow Access To, or Correction of Personal Information

If we refuse to allow you access to your Personal Information or to correct that information, then we will provide you with the reasons for our decision as required by the Privacy Act. We will also inform you of mechanisms available to complain about the refusal.

    • You have the option to remain anonymous or to use a pseudonym when dealing with us where it is lawful and practical to do so. However, without your Personal Information, we may not be able to provide you with our goods and services.

If you are not happy with the outcome of the Privacy Officer’s investigation or we have not replied to you within a reasonable time, then you can raise your concern with the Privacy Commissioner.
